These are some sites I’ve done.
I predominantly work with WordPress, and first start with an appropriate theme developed by someone else. I then customize it to best meet the client’s needs. I have used it as a content management system (CMS) and to incorporate social-media and other multimedia elements such as Twitter feeds and photo galleries. I’ve also built sites with Dreamweaver to design the layout and create the javascript rollovers and other DHTML. However, in both situations I can make changes directly in the html and css code and clean it up if necessary.
Renowned chef and author Najmieh Batmanglij has introduced many to the world of Persian cooking through her books which are published by Mage Publishers. Those cookbooks are filled with beautiful photographs and other historical images of Iran. With this site I went with a minimalist looking WordPress theme in order to better highlight the images of the recipes and book covers including a large slider on the Home page. We also provide sample recipes and information on classes. www.najmieh.com. I also set-up the Mage site (below) in WordPress. We started with a book store theme that we purchased, and I just customized the colors, fonts, and book descriptions in the css.

| Roshanak Taghavi is a international news correspondent specializing in news of the Middle East. The purpose of the site was to promote her articles, and to encourage people to subscribe to her Twitter posts and other social media. I wanted the look and feel of it to reflect the content of her work, so I included photos of the region.www.roshanaktaghavi.com

| Gordon Bock and Mark Alan Hewitt are architectural historians. The purpose of the site was to promote their new book. We also wanted to provide space for book excerpts, updates, and FAQs on old house restoration. I wanted the look and feel of it to be similar to the book. The site was primarily built in WordPress, but I created the first page using a combination of Photoshop and HTML/CSS. www.vintagehousebook.com
