Photo Research

Currently I work as a freelance photo, motion picture, and video footage researcher mostly looking for stills at the National Archives, the Library of Congress, and various historical societies and stock agencies.

From 2004-2006 I was a researcher for the magazine Old House Journal. I contacted architectural photographers, archives, stock agencies, and manufacturers for photos to accompany our articles of historical houses and restoration.  Below are some archival and new images I got for an article on historically accurate colors for restored bathrooms.

From 2007-2009 I worked with the Mission Projects group at National Geographic magazine obtaining photos from NGS grantees for features on the societies web site and stories in the magazine highlighting the work of these researchers and scientists. I also supplemented our presentations with images from our image collection, stock agencies, and other historical organizations.  The image in the Fieldwork story below was provided to us by a photographer, and the ones for the web feature on the sea animals I received from a scientist working on that project.
